Review of Mildura Harness Race Track

Mildura is a town in Victoria, Australia that has a harness racing track of the same name. The track is relatively short, being only 810 meters long with a straight of 70 meters. Covered in granitic sand, the track plays host to a number of races each year and serves as a training facility during the rest of the time.

The Club

The racecourse and the Mildura Harness Racing Club is a small facility compared to others in the country. The track is short, and there is only one main grandstand. Dining facilities are available on the bottom floor of the grandstand. A bar is situated upstairs with a view of the track. All TAB events are televised at the bar via SKY channels. The races are also broadcast on a local radio channel by an onsite broadcaster. This allows punters to keep an eye on their favourites that are running in the races if they are not actually on the track.

Betting at the club is facilitated by some onsite bookies, but is in a very relaxed fashion as the club focuses more on the social side than the wagering side. There are also TOTE facilities, which are separate to the rest that have a good view of the track. Most of the meeting held at the track can be viewed on pay TV for locals and punters who wish to watch a race on which they have wagered.

DNR Logistics Pace

The DNR Logistics Pace is the main pacing race that is run at Mildura Racecourse. This is a pacing race as opposed to a trotting race and is paced over 1750 meters. Local horses mostly trained by local trainers enter the race. Betting on the race is available at the actual track as well as on many live betting sites. The DNR Logistics Pace is a televised event locally and live streamed on some websites for those who cannot be at the track. Betting on the race opens shortly before the actual race starts. Betting on other races is not usually offered by many sports betting sites .

Mildura Trots

The Mildura Trots is a three-day carnival which is held at the Mildura racecourse. It is known to attract punters and their families from all over the country as a holiday destination. The highest incentive race in the carnival is the Mildura Pacing Cup which has a purse of $60 000. This is a group to race, which attracts some national horses as well as the local ones. Horses have been known to compete in the Mildura Pacing Cup and then go on to compete in Sydney and other bigger markets. betting on the Cup can again be done at the track via bookies and TAB facilities. There are also a number of electronic betting stations for those who do not wish to stand in queues.

Mildura People

The main atmosphere at Mildura is one of a family affair and the venue is perfect for dinners out on Friday nights with a quick wager, or mid week meetings with friends. The big carnivals attract tourists from all over the country and are much busier and more festive than the other race days. Betting on these days can be quite fierce, so keeping an eye on the odds is always a good plan.
